does the Mystique work?
The Mystique
is an Ultrasonic Nebulizer. It uses ultrasonic vibrations
to transform the medication into a fog. A blower fan then
gently moves the fog out to the patient.

The compressor nebulizers that are on the market today generally
use a piston-type compressor to force air into a hand held nebulizer.
This air pressure 'sprays' the medication into a mist. Compressors
are typically larger, heavier, and noisier and must be plugged into
an electrical outlet, making them less portable. Often, the
air pressure produced by a compressor unit varies in strength, which
makes the particle size of the medication uncertain and unstable.
The size of
the particle determines how deeply in the lungs the medication gets
deposited. Larger particles are less likely to make it deep
in the lungs. The average size of a particle from a compressor
nebulizer is 10 microns. The average size of particles produced
by the Mystique is only 5 microns - enabling the medication to go
deeper in the lungs and go to work faster!
Most treatments
will be completed in just 4-6 minutes. However, every medication
is slightly different and treatment times will vary. Also,
a treatment on battery power may take slightly longer than when
the unit is plugged in.

Doctor Says I Need A Unit That Produces 6 LPM. What Is The
Liter Flow Of The Mystique?
A compressor
nebulizer needs at least 6 lpm of air flow to 'blast' the medication
into small particles. Because the Mystique uses sonic waves
to produce tiny particles, it doesn't require high airflow to create
an aerosol.
Can
I Use A Mask?
Yes.
The opening for the mouthpiece on top of the Mystique is designed
to accept all standard 22mm respiratory accessories such as tubing
and masks.

The medication
cups that come with the Mystique are reusable. Simply clean
with soap and water and thoroughly rinse. Then allow to air
dry. Take care not to crush or wrinkle the cup. if a
cup becomes deformed or damaged, it should be replaced.
How
Long Will The Battery Run?
A fully charged
battery should provide 4-5 treatments before it needs recharging.
As the battery ages, this time may decrease.
How
Do I Clean The Mystique?
Simply wipe
clean with a soft, damp cloth. Do not submerge the unit under
water. The top housing can be cleaned in normal household
cleaning agents or a vinegar/water solution (1/4) to semi-sterilize.
